Our journey began in Galt, Ontario in 1900 with our very first office. Later, we became known as Bradley Gaskin Marshall. For 90 years, BGM, as it came to be known, served the people and businesses of southern Ontario, building trust while growing and prospering alongside. The company made a particularly bold move in 1990 when it acquired a small insurance company owned by Doug Heaman. Doug came on board with BGM and quickly made an impression with his enthusiastic ability to provide excellent service to clients while growing a busy office. From his role as general manager, Doug could see great potential for the growing southern Ontario marketplace and worked relentlessly to develop BGM to help service this expanding community. In 2005, Doug Heaman became the sole owner of BGM and began to install his vision for a new type of insurance provider. A vision built around a more personal brand of service.
In 2009, Advocate Insurance Group acquired Collins Rankin Insurance Brokers and created an even stronger presence in the Kitchener/Cambridge insurance market. Similar vision and values made this a perfect match.
The Advocate name reflects our philosophy. Not only are we your trusted advisors, but as advocates, we intervene on your behalf.
From that vision BGM evolved to become the Advocate Insurance Group of today. Our new name reflects our philosophy. Not only are we your trusted advisors, but as advocates, we intervene on your behalf. Our role is to represent you, and to advocate for you with your insurance company. We take up your cause. We fight for you. We’re on your side.
