"Mr. Smith" - Actual Client Story from our Personal Recovery Coordinator
While driving in the U.S., Mr. Smith was involved in an accident. Luckily, Mr. Smith chose to carry collision coverage and loss of use coverage on his Auto Insurance policy, after a conversation and decision he made with his Advocate broker. This coverage allowed him to rent a vehicle in the U.S., so his travel plans would not be delayed. In addition to renting a vehicle he used his collision coverage to tow his vehicle back to Canada, where the damage could be repaired. If his vehicle had been a total loss, Mr. Smith would have received the "actual cash value" for his vehicle. Why? Because he had the proper coverage to limit the impact of a loss created by an accident. Oh, and his coverage also took care of the exchange rates and storage.
This is just one story. Imagine if Mr. Smith had declined collision. His vehicle would not have been repaired, he would have had to arrange for it to be towed at his own expense and pay the storage fees along with the exchange rates. All of this and he still would NOT have been put in a rental!
