What You Need to Know About Collision Coverage
When purchasing insurance on a vehicle, consumers have a number of options. One of the most common choices faced by consumers today is “should I have collision coverage on my vehicle?”. While you have the choice on the type of coverage you would like on your vehicle, it is important to know what will and what will not be covered by the insurance company in the event of claim.
When you decline or remove collision coverage from your vehicle, the insurance company will not pay to repair or replace your vehicle for the following scenarios:
- You are found to be at fault in an auto accident (towing and storage fees for your vehicle will not be covered either)
- Your vehicle is the only vehicle in the accident, regardless of the weather(i.e. sliding on ice or hitting a median or pole)
- Your vehicle is impacted by a hit & run
- You are hit by a vehicle in the Province of Ontario which is insured by an insurance company that does follow Ontario’s “no-fault” rules
